I’m not gonna lie, I was super-excited this summer when I came up with this fun baby Jesus craft for my children’s Christmas in July party! It’s such a cute craft, and it serves as a sweet reminder of just how very much Jesus loves them! With “real Christmas” coming fast, it seems the perfect time to share this fun kid craft with you!
I think this is one of the most fun and easy things I’ve found for little ones to make that helps them bring the true meaning of Christmas to life! It would also make a great accompaniment to reading the story of Christ’s birth (which can be found in the books of Mathew or Luke). I could go on and on about all the fun uses for this sweet baby Jesus in a manger, but I will restrain myself for now and show you how we made it instead!
Baby Jesus in a Manger Craft
For this project, you will need:
Craft sticks (We used these!)
White felt
Sticky red foam or foam hearts (like these ones!)
Crayons or markers
Brown paper lunch bags
Glue gun

Start by letting your little ones draw a baby Jesus face on one end of a popsicle stick.
Cut a square of white felt at least long as your popsicle stick, swaddle your baby like you would a real baby, then use a glue gun to secure the felt.
Cut out a red heart and write the letter “U” on it. Glue it onto the baby’s blanket! Jesus loves YOU! Get it?!
Roll the sides of the paper bag down almost all the way to form a manger, and lay your baby Jesus down to sleep.
Ta-dah! That’s it! You now have your very own baby Jesus in a manger!
What fun things do you like to do to help your children learn about the reason for the season? Go tell it in the comments! (10 points to you if you get this pun!) 🙂 🙂 🙂
Oh that is ridiculously adorable!! My son is 30 now and he’d kill me if I got him to make those with me but what a great idea!!!!
Hee hee! 😉 Thank you!
This would have been the perfect craft to do during the snow storm we had last weekend. Nevertheless, I will do it with my daughter this weekend. It looks really easy and offers an opportunity to discuss the true meaning of Christmas and the significance of the birth of baby Jesus. Thanks.
I am so glad you want to try it! I hope your daughters enjoy it too! 🙂
What a sweet holiday craft with a great purpose too, you always have the best ideas for the kids during the holidays.
