I had seen super-fun “Fathers are Heroes” shadow boxes for sale all over the internet and thought -naturally- “That would make such a fun Father’s Day DIY!” I assumed (naively, as it turns out) that all it would take to find a great tutorial with a free printable would be a quick Google search, and that the kids and I would be creating one for our hero in no time! Search as I might, all I could find were pre-made shadow boxes to buy, and we really wanted to make one of our own!
Some of my childrens’ favorite activities to do with their dad are to build LEGOs and to watch superhero movies, so it seemed only right that they should capture the essence of this fun in their Father’s Day art piece! I got to work creating this “Fathers are Heroes” printable, and together, we made this fun gift for their dad! My son really enjoyed assembling (little Avengers pun for you there!) the little heroes, and both kids were excited to sign their names at the bottom!
This Father’s Day, I am excited to share this fun DIY craft and printable with you, because all true Dads are heroes, and they deserve to be appreciated! Don’t forget to wish the Dad(s) in your life a Happy Father’s Day, and to remind them just how super they are!
For this project, you will need:
Shadow box frame (like this one!)
Good paper for printing on, in your desired color
LEGO (or LEGO-like) superheroes like these ones

Next, ASSEMBLE the heroes! (Huh? HUH? Okay, I’ll show myself out now…)
Glue the heroes on their corresponding spaces.
Finally, sign your work of art, then place it in your shadow box frame!
