May the 4th is almost here, and this year, we decided to celebrate by making these fun lightsaber popsicle holders!
Star Wars is life in our household: my husband has been in love with it since he was young, and it seems that all of his fatherhood dreams are coming true now that his Children have caught the fan fever! I kid you not: early vocabulary words in our home included terms like R2-D2 (usually pronounced “2D” or “2D2”) and Princess Leia is the only princess that seems to matter to our little girl (who came up with the word “princiness” to describe her)! Star Wars is often the topic of our conversations and our sweet daughter has long exclaimed that it is “FUN!!!!!!!!”
I will never forget when my husband and I were dating and I visited his family home for the first time, and I realized saying he “liked” Star Wars would have been the understatement of the century! Taken aback by his life-sized Yoda statue, I realized this wasn’t a hobby or an interest: this was LOVE! I now lovingly refer to Yoda as “Grandpa”: He moved into our first apartment with us and took up residence in the living room -and proved to be a great conversation piece! Since then, he has made his home in the office of our first house and now in the office of our second; he watches over me as I post, and I am no longer caught off guard by him; to me, he is just “Grandpa!”
Whether you are a die-hard Star Wars fan like my husband, a converted fan like myself, or someone who’s thinking to themselves: “After reading this, I think Katie’s family might actually BE from a galaxy far, far away!” I think we can all agree that everyone needs some fun in their life, no matter what planet they’re from!
Lightsaber Popsicle Holders
For this project, you will need:
Freeze pops
Felt (we used black, gray, and white for the handle bases)
Hot glue gun
Scissors
Start by cutting a six inch by two inch rectangle for each holder, cutting as many as you desire.
Next, fold the rectangle in half and glue the sides together, keeping the glue close to the outside edge. Remember to leave the top open for the popsicle!
Now you are ready to decorate! Cut little embellishments out of felt -like red buttons or black handle grips- and glue to the holder. When finished, simply slide your popsicles in, and you are ready for the Jedi trials!
May the Force be with you always!
I would LOVE your help in getting this post out into the galaxy! If you found this article fun and entertaining, please SHARE it with others in your star system through social media!

Thank you for checking them out! 🙂
Love this idea!! We did something similar with a tin can as a pencil holder. Great party favor for a party.
Thanks so much, and what a great idea!
