Overcoming anxiety is a big deal, and if you’ve ever been faced with this problem, you know what I mean! This post will go live on Thanksgiving day here in the USA, and I have been reflecting on what I am thankful for! Honestly, I have had a tough couple of weeks, packed with large financial decisions and health problems. 🙁 I’ve dealt with everything from the stomach bug and common cold to excruciating back and stomach pains -to the point of passing out! Yeah, not so cool! After visiting the doctor and the chiropractor, I am thankful not to be facing surgery, but I do have to change what I eat a bit. 🙁 This is not exciting for me (number one ice cream fan, here), but I’ve got to face the facts: it’s time to do this.
Overcoming Anxiety and its Sticky Grip
You may not know this about me, but I have struggled deeply in recent years with anxiety. I am so thankful that I have come a long way in this area: anxiety no longer rules my life, and I (hopefully) no longer drive my poor family crazy! I am unbelievably grateful for this, and since things have been so much better, I was very surprised to learn that stressful decisions could well be adding to my physical problems. It seems that I have found ways though leaning on Jesus to de-stress my conscious thoughts, but that my unconscious mind is still having a little trouble (particularly in extreme circumstances). I cannot control my circumstances, but I can learn to rely more and more on the only One who CAN! He is the one I am ultimately thankful for!
I am telling you all this because Celebrating With The Bug is a “real” place; a space where we learn to celebrate the everyday from the inside out, even when the days are tough, and we don’t feel like we can! I will never claim to be perfect, and I don’t have everything figured out! What I do know is that I have come so far in learning to deal with my anxiety and the stress of everyday life that I no longer waste my days paralyzed by fear! There are so many amazing byproducts of this, and being mentally present while interacting with family is the biggest one for sure! It has also given me back time and energy that I can use to focus on the things I enjoy, like baking, creating, and sharing on this blog!
From Anxiety to Thankfulness
I am so thankful to you for following me on this journey, and am looking forward to this coming year with joy in my heart, excited to see where the Lord leads Celebrating With The Bug! I plan to share more of my heart with you in hopes of helping others through my experiences, because I know how hopeless it can feel to be trapped in your own mind. If pouring out my heart helps just one person live a more anxiety-free and joyful life, it’s worth every moment I spend sharing through this blog! Beyond that, we will continue to have lots of creative fun, too! 🙂
