“Minion Up” with these totally awesome No Sew Minion Hats! I loved the first “Despicable Me” movie, which came out before I even had children! Little Agnes melted my heart, and I just wanted to scoop her up and give her a big squeeze (remember, “It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!”?!)!
Fast forwarding… Today, I am blessed to have two little minions of my own to love on, and who also love anything minion-related! We are excited to watch the new movie, and will be all set to join the minion ranks with our very own felt minion hats! You only need a few supplies, and I am right here to guide you as you create your own!
No Sew Minion Hats
For this project you will need:
Yellow felt -for the baby hat, I used a 9″ by 12″ piece, and for the large hat (which can fit kids and most parents), I used a 12″ by 18″ piece
Black, gray, and white felt
Pink ribbon (if you want to make a girl minion hat)!
Plug in the glue gun so it’s ready when you are.
Fold the yellow felt in half like this, then draw a line rounding out the top corners and cut along the lines.
Now cut straight across the top to make two pieces.
Using black felt, cut out little strands for hair, and place them pointing down (this is very important if you don’t want a minion with ingrown hairs!). Lightly glue down the end of each strand closest to the top in your desired pattern (if making a girl, you might want to group them all together for a cute ponytail).
Run a line of glue up the sides and over the top (leaving the bottom and about 1 inch from the bottom open on each side).
Gently turn your hat right-side out.
Cut out black straps (length dependent on a one- or two-eyed goggled minion), and gray, white, and black circles in descending size order. Arrange the goggle parts on the front of your minion hat and glue down, tucking the end of your strap into the fold of the hat on each side.
Fold the bottom edge up and glue in place to make a small rim.
Now you’re ready to grab a BANANA and head to the movie! After that, let all your friends know how you liked it -and how easy and fun this project was- with the social sharing buttons below!
