My kiddos have been asking all kinds of questions about Easter, so it’s on my heart more than ever to bring its true meaning to our springtime celebration! I’m trying my best to answer their questions in ways they can understand, but explaining the entire story to a five year old, let alone a just-turned-three-year-old, is a little tough!
I don’t want to give my poor children nightmares by detailing the process of crucifixion, but I do want them to understand how very much Jesus loves them. I don’t want to make them sad, but I do want them to know that He died and rose again on the third day and that He lives forevermore. As you can imagine, I have done a lot of searching, and I am thankful to have found some simple, age-appropriate ways to share the Easter story with them!
Starting Palm Sunday and continuing through Easter Morning, I have assembled a list of ways to share the story with kids, and I am super-excited to share them with you! Join us on our adventure to find the true meaning of Easter!
The True Meaning of Easter
Good Friday: This is such a cool demonstration of how Jesus’ death on the cross took away all our sins. I think the imagery made a great statement to my children about how much Jesus loves them. It’s also my little guy’s first video ever (proud mom here)!
Easter Baskets: These fun “Nobaaady Loves You Like Jesus” candy bar wrappers add love to any basket! Get your free candy bar wrapper printables here!
I am hopping with excitement to start these Easter traditions with my children, and would love to hear about yours! How have you shared the story with your kids?
Happy Easter, friend!
