In this post, I will show you how to turn traditional biscotti into “Boo-Scotti!” We definitely enjoy the fun of Halloween over its more gruesome aspects, and that is why I came up with these fun, easy-to-make treats!
Truthfully, we have never been big into Halloween in our home, but when my son was born on the holiday, it took on a whole new light for us, and we love planning our costumes around his birthday theme! This year, my boy is all about Lord Of The Rings after reading it with his dad for nightly story time (a LOT of nightly story times)! So, hobbits we are to be this year, and the preparation is underway (stay tuned for more on this in future posts)!
Depending on where you live, Halloween night can be quite chilly, and these little ghosts are the perfect accompaniment to a hot beverage after a stroll through the neighborhood! Admittedly, the kiddos and I already ate the ones we made (we just couldn’t resist these little guys), so we will have to make more if I plan to have any for post-Trick-or-Treating this year! Boo-Scotti is also a fun way to spread some holiday cheer to friends and coworkers; mid-morning coffee is way more exciting with these boo-tiful and delicious treats! Not to mention us moms: in the days that follow “the big night,” we will definitely need a pick-me-up to deal with our sugar-rushed kiddos (and to tide us over until bedtime, when we may or may not pluck a piece or two from their candy stashes)!
For this recipe, you will need:
One 6-8 count prepackaged biscotti
White candy melts
Brown candy melts or chocolate melts
Candy eyes or chocolate chips
Unwrap the biscotti and melt just over 1 cup of the white candy melts in the microwave at ½ power for 30-second intervals -stirring in-between- until smooth. Dip the biscotti and lay on wax paper.
Attach the eyes before the white candy dries! Melt about a ¼ cup of chocolate melts at ½ power for 20 second intervals -stirring in-between- until smooth.
Pour your chocolate mixture into a sandwich bag and cut the tip to make a piping bag! Pipe on little ghost mouths and you are finished! Let dry, then enjoy with your favorite coffee or tea!
Happy Halloween to all the kids-at-heart out there! Treat yourself and all the “grown-ups” in your life this Halloween, and share the fun with the social media buttons below!
