I was on the hunt for a baby girls’ Minion costume a couple of years ago, and -to my surprise- they don’t (at least didn’t) make one! There were tons of options for boys and even for older girls, but nothing for my little princess! I realize I could simply have used a boys’ Minion costume and put a little bow on her head and called it good, and that would have been okay. The problem is -even when she was only a baby- this little lady is very particular. It may be because she is the first girl in a long line of boys in our family, but she has been a firecracker from the get-go, and she knows what she wants!
Needless to say, this Momma loves decking her baby out as much as possible, and is taking advantage of the short years she will tolerate my clothing selections! Truthfully, they are already over for the most part; she picks her own clothes now and since she is two, I calm my nerves by telling myself that -though some may judge me- other parents can spot a child who dressed themselves a mile away! Helping her create the perfect outfit warms my heart, so I don’t mind putting in a little extra effort to help her get it just right!
My little girl loves Minions, and likes to wear the hat, and I know she wishes her no-sew Minion costume still fit, too. Oooooooh! Liiiiiiiiight Bulb! Now that I have pictures (in case it gets destroyed), I should really let her use it for her dolls! Hooray! Problem solved!
No-Sew Girls Minion Costume!
For this project you will need:
Black felt (If you want to make life even easier, you can get self stick felt and skip the gluing altogether!)
A yellow, long-sleeved shirt to wear under the jumper, if desired
X-ACTO type craft blade
(For No-Sew Minion Hat supplies, head on over to that post here!)
First, cut a 4-inch by 4-inch square of pink felt, then cut a 1 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch square of black felt.
Print and cut out the “Gru G Printable,” then lay your black square in a diamond shape, tape down your “G,” and cut its silhouette out of the black felt.
Center your pink felt square over the chest area of the denim jumper and glue in place.
Center your felt “G” black diamond on the pink felt square and glue in place.
Voila! You are ready to complete the last part of your costume by crafting your No-Sew Minion Hat!
I hope you and your little lady enjoy this easy-to-make Minion costume as much as we do! If there’s one thing you know about Minions, it is that there are LOTS of them! I would love your help with making a few more by using the social sharing buttons below! BANANA!
