I love baking with my kiddos, and a bread machine is an easy way to get them in on some baking action! When I was young, I loved to watch my grandpa make fresh bread. The aroma of his baking bread was divine, and I could hardly wait to take a bite of his delicious creations. Looking back, I wish younger me would have had the foresight to learn his tricks for the perfect loaf (apparently, I was too busy eating the dough)! February is his birthday month, and although he is no longer on this side of heaven, I think of him every time I smell fresh, warm bread! I am excited to share how my kids and I create that sweet smell of fresh-baked bread in our own home!
It’s true that bread machines leave a lot to be desired when it comes to the appearance of a loaf, but my two-year-old couldn’t care less about that. (Truthfully, the bread is usually cut and enjoyed before anyone would have the time to notice its shape, anyway.) Both of my children thoroughly enjoy dumping in the ingredients and making their own bread, and the smile on their faces as they watch others enjoy their creation and their declarations of “I made that bread!” followed by, “Do you like it?” are priceless!
This is our favorite recipe for the bread machine. It gives off that sweet aroma of baking bread with very little effort!
Follow along as my little lady shows how to make your very own great-smelling loaf! π

Place ingredients in the bread maker according to the manufacturer’s directions. If you don’t have the directions, just add ingredients as directed below! π QUICK TIP: take care not to get ingredients on the heating elements, or the smell may not be so lovely (Speaking from experience)!
Put the liquids into the machine first.
Next, add your flour, then add the salt and sugar.
Last, add the yeast!
Select the sweet bread setting for a 1 ½lb loaf.
Once finished, allow the bread to cool, then enjoy!
I hope the aroma of freshly-baked bread will fill your home soon, and that you will make some sweet memories of your own!
I am obsessed with our bread machine – we have had it 14 years now and never buy bread. SO many things to make. Love it!
Right! Nothing beats fresh baked bread! π
The aroma of freshly baked bread is one of the best in the world! And your daughter looks so excited to be baking in her big chef’s hat. π
It’s a wonderful smell indeed! She loves to bake in her hat and apron! π

You are so welcome! Thanks for checking it out! π
Thanks so much for your recipe and your cute kiddos. I love having the kids in the kitchen too! I felt like I could almost smell the bread as I read your post. Yummm. I wish I had a bread machine now! β€οΈ
You are so welcome! π Depending on how you feel about a second hand one they tend to be plentiful at garage sales and thrift stores! π
Homemade bread is the best! I’ve never tried making it in a bread machine though – looks good!
I agree homemade bread is awesome! The texture is a little different with a bread machine but the ease and speed make up for it! π
I love the smell of fresh baked bread. Its one of the best smells in the world.
I couldn’t agree more! π
Our bread machine didn’t make the last move with us. This post reminded me of how much I loved having the smell of fresh baking bread, I just might have to get a new bread machine in the very near future!
They are a little clunky for moving! You could probably pick one up for cheep at a thrift shop! π
oh my gosh this is truly my families dream come true, sadly, they have yet to buy me a bread maker. lol
They should bump it to the top of the gift list. For their own enjoyment! Lol! π
wow, itβs super easy to make. I felt like I could almost smell the bread as I read your post. Yummm.
It is very easy to make! Thanks so much for checking it out! π
I love fresh bread but have never been successful making it! Does this work with gluten free flour do you know? Youβre making me want to try a bread machine again! You make it look so easy and delish!!
I am not totally sure. π I do know you would need to add xanthan gum or use a flour that already has some in it. As with most gluten free baked goods it might be a little more dense than regular bread. I am guessing you are probably used to that though! Thank you for checking out this recipe! π
Nothing beats fresh baked bread!
I agree! π
I am a complete failure at bread machine baking or any baking with yeast. I admire anyone who can do it.
We are going to just blame that on the machine! π
Hey, I am new to making homemade bread with the bread maker,my family actually got it as a gift from my grandmother, I just want to ask if you can give me some pointers on how I can make it taste delicious for my family.
What a fun gift! Honestly this is our favorite bread recipe for the bread machine! We also like to use this Betty Crocker recipe for dinner rolls! These take a bit more effort as the bread machine makes the dough and you shape and bake them in the oven. They turned out so light and fluffy for us though and tasty too! π
Can you make the bread with a special flour, I donβt have bread flour.
Yes, you can use all-poupose flour π
